Merced Superior Court operates a Comprehensive Collection Program pursuant to Penal Code 1463.007. Cases are assigned to the Merced Court Collections Division if you appeared in court and were ordered to make monthly payments. Cases are also assigned to the Merced Court Collection Division if you have failed to appear or failed to pay on your case. Failure to resolve your fines/fees by the due date may result in a $300 Civil Assessment Penalty being added to your case or issuance of a warrant for your arrest and/or suspension of your driver license.
If you fail to resolve your delinquent account with us by setting up a payment arrangement, you may be subject to wage garnishments and bank levies through the Franchise Tax Board Court Ordered Debt Collection Program.

Financial Hardship and Inability to Pay:
If you have a financial hardship that prevents you from paying, you may request the court to reduce your fine amount,
request additional time to pay, set an affordable monthly payment, or convert your fine to community service.
You will be asked to provide financial documentation in support of your request. If you qualify, the court may reduce
the amount you owe. Below is the form in which you may request an ability to pay determination.
