Evictions During And After COVID-19

As a result of the pandemic, there are three new laws that have been enacted regarding evictions.

  1. AB3088, the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Act of 2020, was signed and became effective on August 31, 2020 [AB3088].
  2. On September 1, 2020, the CDC issued an agency order, Temporary Halt in Residential Evictions to Prevent the Further Spread of COVID-19, which became effective on September 4, 2020 [CDC Eviction Moratorium Order].
  3. SB91, which made changes to the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Act of 2020, was signed and became effective on January 29, 2021 [SB91]
  4. AB832, which made additional changes to the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Act of 2020 was signed and became effective on June 28, 2021 [AB832]
